The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation have named Lawrence Duperron of the Derrick Boxing Club to the Top100 Albertan List. Lawrence’s countless hours of work with Alberta’s youth has not gone unnoticed. Mr. Duperron will receive his award at a banquet in Red Deer on Dec. 8th and it will be displayed in a special section of the Alberta Sport Hall of Fame. Honorary member of Boxing Alberta, Ron Hayer, of Edmonton, was also named, along with long time Alberta amateur boxing great Max Gibb from Lethbridge.
Bolton Lads & Girls Club (just outside of Manchester) arrived in Edmonton October 6th for 2 boxing shows. Ten boxers and coach John Hart competed at the Cougar/Avenue Prospects Dinner Show on Oct. 7th and Boxing Alberta’s Doug’s Place Challenge Cup on Oct 11th. Both cards were excellent competition for our Alberta athletes and the capacity crowds at both events were witness to some very high caliber amateur boxing. Boxing Alberta has been invited to a return competition to Bolton, England and Glasgow, Scotland in early May 2006. This would be a single meet in Glasgow and a tournament in Bolton.

All Club managers and coaches must register their competitive athletes and coaches before competing in any club cards or provincial tournaments in 2006. There will be 2 National Championships in January 2006; registrations will be slow coming out of the National Office in Ottawa. Give yourself extra time for shipping and handling. No athlete will be allowed to box without the proper registration sticker in his or her boxing passbook. Boxing Canada will expedite the processing and delivery of your registration for an additional fee of between $10.00 and $25.00 (depending on type of delivery used).

One Day the Devil challenged the Lord to a boxing match. Smiling the Lord proclaimed, "You don't have a chance, I have won medals in every weight class and all the greatest boxers are up here for me to train with".
"Yes", snickered the Devil, "but I have all the referees and judges."
