Nominate someone (or many individuals) who you think were influential in the founding, operation, or legacy of the Boxing Alberta (1970 – 2025).

Please include as much detail as you can as our committee will be choosing the top 55 nominations for a special section of our website. We would appreciate if you could include a photo as well!

Boxing Alberta Board of Directors

Heather Verhoeven has been recently asked by President Warren to set up committees to review the roles and responsibilities of Board Members. The purpose would be to develop clear responsibilities for the roles therefore she is seeking current Boxing Alberta members to join committees to review the roles and assign responsibility for the Director at Large, Director of Athletes and the Director of Coaches positions within the Board of Boxing Alberta.

She will be setting up three working groups; commitment will be attending zoom meetings to assist with role review and to clearly define the responsibilities for each role.

She is currently seeking expression of interest from individuals to support the three separate committees. Current board members in the position are encouraged to participate. Please email her at heatherfexver@gmail.com if you can commit to supporting this review. Please indicate which committee you would be interested in supporting. Deadline to express interest is June 24, 2025.

Competing Internationally

If any athletes or coaches are planning to compete at an international boxing event, be sure to fill out an International Travel Permit. You can find this document in the documents section of our website. Once it is filled out, send it to the office and both Boxing Alberta and Boxing Canada will sign it. Without a completed permit, those wishing to travel and compete will not be permitted to do so. Contact the office you have any questions.

Competitive athletes – $120
Coaches and Officials – $100
Recreational athletes – $20
Club sanctions – $100
Tournament sanctions – $500
Pro-Am sanctions – $500
White Collar sanctions – $1,500

Boxing Canada Announces Membership to World Boxing

Effective immediately, Boxing Canada will be terminating its membership with IBA to become a member of World Boxing. This decision has been carefully considered and aligns with our commitment to advancing the interests of boxing in Canada and on the international stage.

Coaching Certification Requirements
Come September 2023, coaches are required to be Beginners Instruction (level 1) certified to corner (the coach in the ring). Please see the letter pertaining to this.
